Break for Spring

The days were cool the weather not warm, and yet, the first day of Spring came this past week. Incidentally it was spring break; a busy week in which I mostly worked on sewing my dress to wear to a wedding. The bottom of the skirt was nearly 3 yards round the bottom (Flouncy trouncy, fun fun, fun fun, fun). I think the dress turned out well, though when it came down to it, I felt slightly overdressed at the wedding because, as is typical, people wear what they want to wear, such as polo shirts and the like. Oh well. It seems no one likes to dress up and only do so when they have to. Then again if forced to dress nicely there is less appeal in the prospect.

Spitting annoyed

So okay, I studied for my test today and I went back over a few questions and changed two answers… after handing in the test I look it up and, what do you know one of them was right and is wrong now, the other was wrong either way but I sooo should have know that one by heart. I looked at that info a few times today and still somehow managed to get it wrong. I could kick myself if it would help.

Other problems that get my goat… my internet isn’t working right, like whack the froggies, what is wrong with it??? Tell me! It should by all means be working, but it’s not. Grrrr!

Anomaly?

So I was eat lunch when the lights and everything in the dinning hall went out. Electricity halted. No more radio, nothing. I look up think “this is odd” but I wait for a few seconds, the electricity flicks back on then off again, before coming on again a couple seconds later. How odd, but I shrug and finish my lunch.

Walking around outside a bit later I smell smoke. Looking around I see a little bit of smoke coming from practically under a bush. Upon closer investigation it appears that I cigarette has set the mulch to smoldering. Yes, I think that is another reason not to smoke. In addition to all the negative heath effects and the fact that some people like me really dislike the smell, you can set things on fire. I think it was in Black Beauty where some one was told not to smoke in a bran, but did so anyways and ended up setting the whole barn on fire.

Okay so continuing my narration… I get back to my room and I notice that my clock is blinking… the electricity went out here too? The electricity didn’t go out on campus during hurricane Isabelle a few years back, but some fluke has seen fit to put it out today. Go figure.

Moose-faced

So the other day I was walking back from eating, or visiting a friend when I saw this one guy wearing a shirt. It was a really cute shirt and I own one just like it but in a differant color. This is the point where I am afraid I embarass myself but, what have you. He was walking with friends and it was someone I don't know, but I am so tickled pink that he has almost the same shirt as one I happen to own (though wasn't wearing at the time) that I call out and say "I have that same shirt in green" and walk on. I am sure they had no clue what to make of me. After they had walked on a bit I heard them laughing, and I think I would too if it had been the reverse. Maybe I am just weird sometimes.

Pulling out the tank tops, flip flops, and miniskirts

It is warm and sunny. It is literally shorts and t-shirt weather. I only have a few t-shirts with me and I am lucky I have those. It seems almost unexpected for us to have this exceedingly pleasent temperature out-of-doors. I did laundry this morning because I was running out of clean clothes, especially short sleeved shirts.

Though many people don't understand why, I refuse to wear flip flops... I am one of those people who has no problem wearing boots in the summer. I own one pair of sandles (unless you count the high healed ones, ;) then I own two). You prolly won't find me flounching around in a mini skirt (thought I do have one skort that is kinda short), and I more often wear tank tops under other things than by themselves.

Skates and stuff

Last night I went ice skating with some friends. I had fun, for I dearly love ice skating. I can't claim to be much good at the sport, but I can skate around a rink for a while without falling, very poorly skate backwards and the minimal things that might be expected for someone who skates maybe twice a year or so. I did fall once last night when me and my roomie ran into one another. She fell on her rear end and I fell on my knee, though I can't see a bruise yet so, it could have been worse. Today I am somwehat sore, but not too bad. I skated for about 2 and a half hours.

Today I rewatched the approx. 3 hour BBC version of Pride and Predjudice. Classic. There are some movies worth rewatching and I think this one of them.

Revolving pants

Okay, so here is how it goes... I get a hole in one of my pairs of jeans. The whole is right next to the back pocket (on the backside) rendering them unwareable. Then begins the search for new pants seeing as how that left me short. My friend is nice enough to pick up some pants that should fit me but goodness knows nothing ever fits unless you try it on and even then... so we went to the store together and exchanged the pants, but problem being I had a hard time finding pants of equitable value for exchange that fit right. I finally pick out two pair, on jean, one kaki. I bring the two pairs home and the jeans are pretty fine, just ever so slightly tight, but the kaki's looked too tight by far to half the people I tried them on and showed them off to. Today I go again and try on 5 more pairs of pants and fianally select one that my mom thinks look good on me and I think fit. They are darker in color than I usually get/ like, but they fit okay and don't make my legs look like large sauasages. Sigh, I am glad I have new clothes, but sometimes it seems like a huge undertaking.

Out of the mouth

Okay so there are a guy ad a girl. The guy says to the girl "thanks for last night". The setting: the kitchen of where I work. The players: me and someone I work for. He was saying thank you for helping with the event last night at work (the one where I was supposed to work 5-9 but ended up there til 10), but it was pointed out to me that someone not knowing the situation could derive alternate meaning from those words. Appearently someone had given him a weird look. I find it amazing that the simplest of things can be taken wrong.
